Luiza Andrade joins the SFA Beach Volleyball program as the Assistant Coach for its inaugural season. Native from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Andrade moved to Nacogdoches after finishing her student-athlete career at San Jose State University where she competed for both the indoor and the beach volleyball programs.
At SFA, Andrade will take on roles with recruiting and developing practice plans. She will also take on administrative tasks, helping out with compliance, travel, academic oversight, and player development. Prior to joining the coaching staff at SFA, Andrade has helped lead the 15's girls team at Titan Athletics, as well as lead summer camps at San Jose State University as one of the head coaches from junior camps (k-4th grade) to advanced camps (8th-12th grade).
As an athlete, Andrade has helped build the Spartans Beach Volleyball program from the ground up as they came from a 0-14 record in 2015 to finish the 2019 season with the most wins in school history (11). Throughout all 4 years, Andrade has played on the #2 and #3 pairs for the Spartans and helped the team collected wins against Stanford, Cal-Berkeley, GCU, Saint Mary's, HBU and etc.
On the court, as the starting libero for the Spartans, Andrade finished her career ranked second all-time in digs with 1,653 as well as ninth all-time for service aces, with 122. She has also left a mark in the Mountain West Conference as she finished eight all-time in the career digs and tenth on aces list. All-Mountain West honoree, in 2016 Andrade was selected to the Mountain West All-Star Team, where they got third place in the European Global Challenge, in Croatia. Prior to coming to the United States, Andrade was also part of the Brazilian Youth National Team for several years.
